Janet Shearer
Contemporary Landscape Painter
Janet Shearer (b. 1953, UK) lives and works in the heart of rural Cornwall in a secluded valley near Ruthernbridge, surrounded by woods, nature and the Camel Estuary. After several years spent painting scenery in the film business, she embarked on a three decade long international career as an artist specialising in hyper-realistic trompe l'œil paintings and murals. Fed up with working on a massive scale, often away for months at a time and frequently working on building sites, Janet began to concentrate on developing a much more intuitive, impressionistic style in her own studio, working on a reduced, less physically demanding scale. She became fascinated by painting water in every form, delighted to be concentrating on working for herself, instead of decorating the elegant homes of her clients.
Cornwall offers a gloriously rich palette of inspiration for Janet's paintings.
From the woodlands and rivers surrounding her home to the open stretches of coastline where she can visit the water all year round - the changing seasons and unpredictable weather offer infinite possibilities to explore through colour, texture and form.
Janet is currently exhibiting and selling original paintings via her studio as well as at local galleries.
All paintings are framed and delivery will be arranged via Fine Art Courier - we can arrange UK and Worldwide shipment.
